On My Way

Packing and gear checks are now in the past….

Amazing friends and family have helped me prepare for my travels. Thank you Thank you Thank you to ALL!!!!

And… ‘Good byes’/ ’see you laters’ have been said.

I have just completed our staging program in Philadelphia where I met the 22 other Peace Corps Volunteers in my Health Education cohort. Only two and a half days in and it already feels like I’ve known some of my new comrades for a month. At staging I learnt new ICEBREAKERS! And possibly more importantly new techniques for understanding myself and how to even better create an open and judgment free approach to my experience (things I thought I already had in the bag! Always learning!). We were taught the importance for all of us to remain open, curious, and get to know each individual we meet (don’t rely on a single story)! And now… IT’S TIME TO BOARD THE PLANE TO GHANA! Once I arrive I will begin Pre Service Training, which will last for the first 3 months of service. During my first few weeks I will not have access to internet or phone contact so hang tight for the next blog post! During this time you can keep updated about our 23 person strong cohort on Facebook by looking up Peace Corps Ghana and ‘liking’ the page.

To send a letter it has to be sent via AIR MAIL. Please write ‘Air Mail’ somewhere on the envelope. I believe the cost to send international mail to Ghana right now is $1.50. You can get international stamps at the post office or you can use 4 ‘Forever Stamps’ and drop it into a mailbox near you! Looking forward to being in touch!
